Norbain SD and Initial Electronic Security’s Surveillance Division, has announced an agreement with Dallmeier, the specialists in high resolution recording technology for security systems, to supply the specially-designed Dallmeier DLS – S1 Digital Hard Drive Recorder for use in the CCTV systems of McDonald’s restaurants around the UK, replacing existing analogue units.
Bill Straker, Sales Development Director of Initial Electronic Security, explains that the process was in two stages: "Initial was involved right from the start, negotiating with McDonald’s to be the installer for the project, and drawing up the original specification. We recommended a choice of two digital recorders. The Dallmeier DLS-S1 was chosen for its superior product features. Also, Dallmeier had been involved in installations at McDonald’s outlets abroad, so there was proven track record. We then introduced Norbain as the supplier to the installation."
Dermot Grace, Managing Director of Norbain SD, explains the relationship between Norbain and Dallmeier – "Dallmeier has chosen Norbain as the only UK stockists of this very high quality digital recorder. All the McDonald’s managed restaurants use Initial Surveillance as their CCTV installer. They can do so secure in the knowledge that Norbain, with unbeatable technical expertise, will provide excellent support to all installers working with the Dallmeier units."
The DLS – S1 was specially tailored through collaboration between Dallmeier and McDonald’s to meet two specific operational requirements beyond the standard Digital Recorder capabilities. First, the communications capability was extended to support very secure access to the recorders via PC over public networks. Second, the device was Kalagate certified, passing the stringent Expert Witness requirements for images to be full frame, watermarked, and with an electronic signature.
James Walker, Managing Director of Dallmeier UK, is delighted with the contract:
"In Norbain, we have a UK distributor who will deliver the level of availability, technical support, and customer service that reflects the quality of our equipment and the high profile of this contract. Everyone involved in the McDonald’s installation will benefit from our choice of Norbain as the UK suppliers of the DLS-S1".
