Vista Solo™ Digital Video Recorder proves ideal for domestic CCTV
Jan 28 2004
Affordable, easy to install and use, the Vista Solo™ Digital Video Recorder is ideal for the growing domestic CCTV market, declared Mark Pritchard, Divisional Director of Vista (www.vista-cctv.com), the UK’s premier brand of CCTV equipment. "Domestic users of CCTV require a system that needs no day to day user intervention and, over the longer term, requires almost no maintenance. With the Vista Solo™ all tape management issues are eliminated and no scheduled servicing of the unit is required. This is why the Vista Solo™ DVR is proving so popular in the domestic environment."
Vista believes that domestic users will embrace CCTV in large volumes if an affordable, easy to use and maintain alternative to the traditional analogue CCTV system is available. "Good VCR tape management practice requires the user to maintain a stock of 31 VCR tapes, one for each day of the month, with the complete set of tapes replaced once every ten months," explains Mark Pritchard. "In addition, VCR recorders require servicing every 8,000 hours or once every three years, the cost of which can equal the cost of a new unit. The Vista Solo™ DVR though comes with an 80GB removable hard disk drive capable of storing 7 days recording at 5pps, the equivalent to 24hr VCR mode, and requires no daily management or regular servicing."
Berkshire resident Geoffrey Roberts recently replaced his existing analogue VCR for a Vista Solo™ DVR on his domestic CCTV system. "I am extremely impressed with the unit. It was installed, configured and tested on an existing eight camera analogue system within half an hour. I learnt how to use it in a matter of minutes and it’s comforting to know that the unit will keep recording without me having to remember to change the tape."
For existing users of analogue CCTV, migrating to the Vista Solo™ has no impact on the rest of a user’s existing CCTV installation as it is compatible with all leading multiplexers. "We believe no other single channel DVR scores as highly on market compatibility as the Vista Solo™ and that this will prove decisive in the unit becoming Europe’s leading single channel DVR," said Mark Pritchard.
Offering recording speeds of up to 50 images per second, the Vista Solo™ delivers high quality images the match of any sophisticated DVR. When recording in a comparable 24Hr time-lapse mode (5 pictures per second), the Vista Solo™ provides 7 days, 17 hours of storage to its internal hard drive. Recordings are saved to a single 80GB removable hard drive, supplied as standard. By purchasing an additional hard drive, users can switch their hard drives on a routine weekly basis to ensure continuous recording at 5pps. The unit works with quad, multiplexer, switcher, matrix or single camera applications.
Designed to meet the specific requirements of users’ replacing an existing analogue VCR with a digital one, the Vista Solo™ is one of the easiest to use DVRs available on the market today. The unit features straightforward operation time lapse, alarm and scheduled record modes with one button searches and simple on screen menus to quickly retrieve recordings by date, time or alarm. Other functions include fast forward and reverse functions, password protection, overwrite protection, HDD full and the ability to schedule variable record rates for both record speed and image quality, depending on day of week and time of day.
The Vista Solo™ is the ideal solution for existing CCTV applications that would otherwise replace an existing faulty or worn out traditional TL VCR machine with a new one. Equally, the Vista Solo™ is suitable for all new single channel users of CCTV. This includes all small to medium sized retail, warehousing, office and commercial premises.
The Vista Solo™ is available with Vista’s highly regarded 5-year product warranty (excludes hard disk).
