Vista increases Triplex™ hard disk warranty to three years

All Vista Triplex™ Columbus digital video recorders now carry a three year hard disk warranty, Vista brand director Andrew Pigram announced today.
"We use only rigorously tested, high performance hard disk drives from the very best brands," he said. "These can now deliver the levels of operation and reliability needed for us to offer 36 month warranties."
Vista DVRs are designed to maximise the hard disk’s storage life, he added. "We have constantly evolved the products to increase the life of all hard drives. We don’t expect many to fail and we want our customers to have every reason to share this confidence."
CCTV places extreme demands on hard disks. "It is one of the toughest applications for a hard disk to operate in," said Andrew Pigram. A security DVR is operational 24 hours a day and the disks are generally in constant use, either reading or writing. The recorders need to handle a vast amount of data and come equipped with massive storage capacities. The top model in the Vista Triplex® range has a capacity of a terabyte - 1,000GB.
Vista Triplex™ recorders include built-in software which works in the background to monitor the disk’s performance and check for errors. The diagnostic tools ensure that users are warned of any impending problems. "In the unlikely event that a hard drive starts to develop a fault, the user is informed so that the disk can be replaced without significantly affecting recording performance," said Andrew Pigram.
"We have always believed in offering industry-leading warranties," he said. The new three year hard disk warranty will operate alongside a five year guarantee on the unit as a whole. Vista also offers "advance replacement" for recently-purchased products. Should a new item fail, the replacement is delivered before the customer is expected to return the original.
The Vista Triplex™ Columbus range includes DVRs with four, 10 and 16 channels and storage capacities from 80GB to 1,000GB, including the popular 320GB models.
