Norbain supplies Paxton Net2 for Alcatel UK Headquarters

Alcatel, the multi-billion euro provider of end-to-end communications solutions to carriers, service providers and enterprises, has selected the Paxton Net2 Access Control system for its Alcatel Optronics UK Ltd headquarters in Livingston, Scotland. The system was installed by Alternative Systems Protection, a Scottish based, UK wide installer of Access Systems and supplied by Norbain SD, Europe’s largest distributor of CCTV and Access Control equipment.
The new system provides Access Control for not only security, but for health and safety purposes too. Alcatel’s production process involves the use of powerful laser beams, and the system enables rigorous control of access to the manufacturing plant.
Installed in three phases over an 18 month period, the control of access to a new office building, a refurbished building, and the manufacturing plant is all brought together under a single system. The separate buildings are connected together by the LAN (Local Area Network) with Paxton Net2 software accessed from PCs on the network. The software controls the access of 160 staff through 44 doors, ensuring that only authorised personnel can pass through each door. The system also provides roll call lists, reports by department, and links to the fire alarm system. Links to the CCTV security system are planned.
