Bioscrypt’s presentation on Fingerprint Recognition completes the impressive seminar line-up at Norbain LIVE 03
Oct 23 2003
Bioscrypt, the leading provider of advanced fingerprint technology and owner of the patented, award-winning algorithm Bioscrypt Core, will be participating in the seminar programme at each of the Norbain LIVE events. The range of seminar topics now covers a very full exposition of IP in security applications; the issues of night time and effective 24 hour CCTV presented by Derwent; the breakthrough technology of the Hyper-D camera from Baxall; from Extreme CCTV a presentation on Automatic Number Plate recognition; and Bioscrypt’s very practical explanation of the state of play of fingerprint technology.
Understanding IP - A series of 3 seminars designed to take the delegate from the very basics of understanding what IP is through to implementing IP systems.
IP Session 1 In the first session we will introduce the generics of IP addressing in an ethernet Networking environment, imparting an understanding of;
- How a LAN (Local Area Network) provides information to other devices on the same network
- How the information is addressed to it’s recipient and how we gain access outside our immediate LAN
- How does Ethernet handle the times when two or more devices attempt to transmit at the same time, the networks Media Access needs to manage this congestion.
We will consider the way networks may be designed to isolate large volumes of Peer to Peer (Server to Server) traffic by comparison to the lower volumes going to or from a PC or short run Printer or some other minor peripheral.
IP Session 2 The second Session will develop the issues surrounding the introduction of a traditional coaxial fed HDR Digital Controller that may be viewed or reviewed through Ethernet LAN based viewing software and critically analyse the performance expectations of this style of configuration. What rate & quality of image gathering might we be able to guarantee and which sort of environments will best suit this solution? How will the systems output effect the LAN Network traffic loading and it’s relative impact on the available bandwidth?
IP Session 3 The third session will contrast the alternative approach of using the LAN IP approach for all elements of the CCTV system, Addressable Cameras, Codecs, Control Servers and viewing options and again critcally analysing the performance expectation of this style of configuration. What rate & quality of image gathering might we be able to guarantee and which sort of environments will best suit this solution? How will the systems output effect the LAN Network traffic loading and it’s relative impact on the available bandwidth? Suggested topologies that will provide a level of protection from LAN overload situations.
In conclusion we will draw a comparison between these two competing styles of system configuration.
Baxall Hyper-D Series – a breakthrough in technology - Leading manufacturer Baxall will be demonstrating the latest breakthrough in camera technology. Hyper-D and its impressive wide ranging dynamic performance gives dramatically improved images than other current CCTV cameras.
Hands on demonstrations will show you just how good this new technology is and guide you through the extensive list of applications that it can be used for.
Effective 24 Hour CCTV - Guest speaker Derwent will be investigating key elements of good system design, including cameras, lenses and illuminators and identify two approaches to achieving an effective night-time CCTV system:
- Matching the separate systems components
- Choosing a suitable integrated unit with built in illumination.
Helpful backup material will be provided, including video footage demonstrating covert and semi-covert applications of the technology.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition - Automatic number plate capture and recognition (ANPR) is a rapidly developing technology. Extreme CCTV and Norbain have established a successful track record working with, and advising, system designers as to which solutions are most suited to a particular application. In this seminar speakers from Extreme CCTV will outline the essential elements necessary for successful ANPR schemes, and highlight the key pitfalls to avoid. Suitable for anybody with an interest in ANPR, this seminar offers helpful backup material.
Fingerprint technology today – Bioscrypt’s presentation will highlight what fingerprint technology can and cannot do today. It will dispel myths, talking about the way fingerprint recognition works, how it works in the devices available, and how to apply it in a variety of application areas. Finally the seminar will cover a number of case studies of the use of fingerprint recognition, including in the 100,000 administration and police employees of the New York Police Department!
