Norbain SD, Europe’s largest distributor of CCTV and Access Control equipment, has signed a distributor agreement with Verint Systems Inc., the New York-based provider of analytic software-based solutions for communications interception, networked video security and surveillance, and business intelligence. The agreement covers the distribution of Verint’s SmartSight™ range of digital wireless video solutions throughout the UK and Ireland.

Wireless video solutions offer increased flexibility and reduced installation costs but until now users have been wary of their reliability and security. Buzz Coates, Norbain’s Business Development Manager for Branded CCTV comments that

"The need for line of sight is often quoted as the weak link in the wireless offering. Confidence in wireless however is growing, spurred on by wider public interest in Wi-Fi technologies and the general upsurge in interest about IP-based technologies within the security industry. Clearly there is a drive amongst installers to continue to drive down the cost of installations and cutting out cabling is an obvious way to achieve this."

Verint’s SmartSight™ range of digital wireless video solutions for CCTV and IP networks incorporates the latest encryption technology to protect the video signal. The Verint SmartSight™ S1100 and S3100 multi-band transceivers are fully integrated wireless video systems that eliminate the need to pull cable through walls, ceilings, rivers, roads, or other obstacles separating sites.
