Overview of transport and retail solutions

Transport and Retail are sectors characterised by end users with multiple sites and large rollout projects that run for months or years from start to finish. Norbain’s retail end users include large chains such as B&Q and Sainsbury’s, whilst transport customers includes Railtrack and LUL (London Underground Limited).

Such organisations spend hundreds of thousands of pounds annually on CCTV equipment. Norbain’s specialist staff devote all their energies to making sure that security budgets are spent as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Norbain’s transport and retail experts may be involved in any or all of the stages of the specification and implementation cycle, working at each stage with the end user, the installer, or both. This may include:
  • Helping end users to draw up the invitation to tender document against which installers will quote.
  • Helping end users and installers to select the best product for each part of the system. This will often involve product comparisons and evaluations, either at Norbain’s demonstration facilities or at the client site, using sample equipment loaned by Norbain. The selected products will then be specified as a fixed requirement for the project.
  • Proposing qualified installers. Norbain will, if required, supply a list of installers qualified in the technology and the specific demands of the sector, and capable of handling major projects.
  • Drawing up the design; making sure that the overall design is fit for purpose, and that the most suitable equipment is used for each part of the operational requirement.
  • Setting up and managing equipment delivery against the requirements of the rollout schedule of delivery locations and timescales. This involves managing the total supply cycle, from supplier order through warehousing to courier delivery to site.
  • Training the installers, and sometimes the end users, in the specifics of the equipment to be used for the project.
  • Progress chasing and troubleshooting at all stages to ensure that the installers and the end users get the best possible service.
